Cookie Policy
This page lists every cookie gravam.com sets, plus the things the site keeps in your browser that aren't cookies at all. For how personal data is handled more broadly, see the Privacy Policy.
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser and that your browser sends back on later requests. This site keeps cookies to a minimum and does not use them for advertising.
Essential cookies
Two cookies sit outside the optional analytics choice below:
- Analytics consent (
analytics-consent) — stores the choice you make below so you aren't asked on every visit. Set by this site as soon as you choose; expires after a year. - Bot protection (
__cf_bm) — set by Cloudflare, which serves this site as a CDN and DDoS filter (see the Privacy Policy). It helps Cloudflare tell automated traffic from real visitors. It is set on every response whether or not you accept analytics, can't be read by JavaScript, and expires about 30 minutes after your last request.
Analytics cookies (optional)
With your consent, the site loads Google Analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages they read. The Google Analytics script is not loaded at all until you accept, and no analytics cookies are set before then. It is never loaded on the unsubscribe or newsletter-confirmation pages — those carry a one-time token in their address, so they stay analytics-free even once you have accepted.
Once loaded, Google Analytics sets its own cookies (names starting _ga). Declining or resetting your choice below stops analytics and deletes those cookies again.
In your browser, but not cookies
A few things are kept in your browser's local storage rather than in a cookie. They are never sent to the server and never leave your device:
- Theme preference (
nuxt-color-mode) — remembers whether you chose the light or dark mode. - Reading progress (
read-posts:v1) — which articles you've opened, so a topic page can show what you've already read. - Tool inputs (
tool-state:…) — what you enter into the interactive tools, so your figures are still there when you come back.
Managing cookies in your browser
Clearing this site's data in your browser removes the local storage above along with the cookies. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you refuse or remove cookies from the "Privacy" or "Help" section. General guidance is available at All About Cookies.
Changes to this policy
This Cookie Policy may be updated if the site's use of cookies changes. The latest version always lives on this page.
